Let's talk about Savasana (also known as corpse pose) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Savasana, while seemingly simple and insignificant, is often regarded as the most important yoga pose and the easiest one to perform while being the hardest to master.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The goal of Savasana is to completely relax the body while increasing awareness of your body from within. It gives you space to focus on your breathe and heartbeat and feel your body as it is grounded in the pose.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Savasana is a great way to calm the mind, reduce stress and fatigue, lower blood pressure, relieve headache pain, and improve sleep. 😴⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It is a great time to channel your energy inward to restore and revitalize the mind and body. However, it is difficult to master because of the stillness, release of physical tension, and metal relaxation it requires. We have a lot on our minds all the time, but this is your time to let. it. go. One great tip to release tension is to focus on relaxing the space between your eyebrows.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The next time you're in a yoga class (or practicing at home) and you're in Savasana, give yourself the space to release into it because it's just as important as any other pose in your practice.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

“Rotator cuff is a common name for the group of 4 muscles that provide strength and stability during motion of the shoulder. They are also referred to as the SITS muscle with reference to the first letter of their names (Supraspinatus,Infraspinatus,Teres minor, and Subscapularis). The muscles arise from the scapula and connect to the head of the humerus, forming a cuff at the glenohumeral joint.”
• Subscapularis - Important for the internal rotation. It arises from the subscapular fossa and inserts on the lesser tubercle of the humerus.
• Teres Minor - Originates from the lateral scapula border and inserts on the greater tubercle of the humerus - Performs Ext Rotation and assists in adduction.
• Supraspinatus - This muscle originates in the supraspinatous fossa and inserts on the greater tubercle of the humerus – Abduction of at 0-15 degrees.
• Infraspinatus - It originates in the infraspinatous fossa of the shoulder blade and inserts on the greater tubercle as well - Performs Ext Rotation.
“The rotator cuff muscles are each used in a variety of upper extremity movements including flexion, abduction, internal rotation and external rotation. They are essential players in almost every type of shoulder movement. Balanced strength and flexibility in each of the four muscles are vital to maintain functioning of the shoulder girdle.”
“As a group, the rotator cuff muscles are responsible for stabilizing. They keep the head of the humerus into the small glenoid fossa of the scapula in order to enlarge the range of motion in the glenohumeral joint and avoid mechanical obstruction.”
“Rotator cuff injuries are common injuries that can occur at any age. In younger subjects, most injuries occur secondary to trauma or arise from overuse due to overhead activities. Incidence of injuries increases with age, however some individuals with rotator cuff pathology may be asymptomatic.”
• Rotator Cuff Tears
• Rotator Cuff Tendinitis
• Rotator Cuff Tendinopathy
• Impingement Syndrome

New Moon, and partial Solar Eclipse, in Capricorn on January 5th 5:28pm PT.
Happy New Year!!! Hope you had fun, cause the party’s over. For now. It’s time to wake up from the drunk holiday stupor and food hangovers. Our dear, yet austere, mountain goat has quite a peak to climb this year, and needs his wits about him. Sober up and dress in your most practical gear, there’s work to do.
A word that gets even the driest Capricorns’ juices flowing is discipline… and not necessarily the fun kind. It’s the one where you show up, come hell or high water, and do your best. No easy feat. But it does make progress all the more delicious, and the rewards all the more satisfying. •
“I most appreciate what I got for free.” Said no one, ever. •
Saturn, this Moon’s ruler, is sitting by, closely. Traditionally he is seen as the taskmaster. Lord of Karma, often misinterpreted as some sort of harsh justice system of divine punishment, when it’s simply a law of science. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. •
Hold yourself accountable. You can avoid your responsibilities, but you can’t avoid the consequences of avoiding your responsibilities… sorry.
On this New Moon, begin with you. Everyone else is unmanageable, and dealing with their own issues. What’s the adage? Put on your own oxygen mask first. Then pick your favourite child. 🤭
Scope out the scene, take out the maps, and draw up a plan. Set goals and guidelines, without getting attached to outcome. Let go of the illusion of control. Your power lies in claiming responsibility. Own your response to whatever Life throws your way. •
Command the discipline to conquer the greatest peak you’ll ever climb – yourself.

A friend told me the other day she get so overwhelmed with the social media yoga. So she stopped following accounts with that content. Handstands - do this or dont’s
What is right - what is wrong, how to do, how not to etc... Maybe it’s like that, some get inspired and some feel it’s to much.
Nevertheless it’s a reminder that do what’s best for you. Nothing more than that.
We are all individuals, that’s the beauty of it and for me - All that really matters, be you

A little bit of “open practice time”, today working on leg behind the head sequences. This time is an important part of everyone ‘s practice, when we each can refine and understand the specific things that we as individuals are working on. Everyone is at a different place on this road and so making progress requires taking time to overcome our individual stumbling blocks, integrating basic fundamental techniques that are learned in “led” class is part of that, but specifically integrating them into our individual practice. This takes time and focused attention.

|| GIVE IN || Playing around with some movements that I love, and some that I don’t love all that much. Here’s looking at you Parivrtta Trikonasana! 🤦🏼♀️😅🤷🏼♀️ The problem I find with free flow is that I don’t work on the things that feel uncomfortable and challenging enough. As much as yoga is about feeling into the body and doing what feels good, it’s also an amazing way to look deeper when you find things that don’t feel as great, or postures that you have resistance towards. Just a little something for you to think about when you’re next wiggling on your mat. 🧘🏼♀️✌🏼 #catmeffanyoga
Song: Your Mama Told You
Within each of us, no matter our age, there is a “divine child” ready to be born in the form of inspiration, creative energy, or a new, unconditioned experience of the world.
For three days, make ananda balasana your first pose of the day.
How does starting your day with a playful, open, innocent posture like this affect what comes afterward? ❣️ #anandabalasana#gizemozdem1

I’ve started doing all the prework for my next teacher training in April. I booked to go last winter and it seems to have flown round. Now we are getting closer to the time I’m getting abit anxious about leaving the kids for a month 😱 especially as Isabella seems to have regressed this past month. She used to go to bed like a dream now she has a melt down if I try leave her room before she’s asleep. It will be hard to leave them for so long and I won’t see my husband for 3 months because I’m away on his leave time. .
I think it’s really difficult as a mother, there is always this feeling of guilt at the back of your mind when you leave the family to go and do something for yourself. But this teacher training is for my career and ultimately I am trying to develop my career is so I can contribute towards providing for the family in the future. So my husband can stop working away and we can be together as a family full time.
I’m all for living in the now, but sometimes in the now you have to make hard choices and sacrifices for the life you want to lead in the future. My husband has worked away for 13 years and continues to sacrifice his time working away so we can raise the children in this beautiful part of the world... I am so grateful to my husband for supporting me while I chase my dreams and I will always support you while you chase yours 😘❤️

“Forgive yourself first. Release the need to replay a negative situation over and over again in your mind. Do not become a hostage to your past by always reviewing and reliving your mistakes. Do not remind yourself of what should have, could have or would have been. Release it and let it go. Move on.
You can't change the past, but you can determine that your past will not define your present, or dictate your future. Forgive your former self...for the way you may have sabotaged your present options. Recognize that the ability to create a new life lies in the ability to forgive yourself first and make peace with your past. You have GREATNESS within you!” - Les Brown .
