Week #4 Session #11#pokerForCAWildfire (late post for Sunday results)
🕐 Session Length: 4h 39m
💵 Stakes: $105 NL tournament (2 bullets, 1hr 45m), $3-200 Spread (2hr 54m)
📈 Results: -$210, $1681 respectively for +$1471 ($1̶9̶0̶5̶ $1921 weekly total *bank error*)
💸 Any reloads/barrels: 0
*I miscalculated and accidentally did not include 2 $8 beers I had over the weekend, so I’m adding that back to the weekly total (I’m not subtracting “costs” from weekly goals). _
We didn’t make it far in the tournament, but it ended up being a blessing in disguise as I was able to hit it big in the Spread game afterwards that more than made up for it. Not only did I get lucky, but also was able to extract max value from one key multi-way pot where I hit a gutter to the nut straight on the turn, followed by hitting the nut flush on the river.
I also stacked a few players and didn’t get too unlucky anywhere, with the exception of me “sniffing out” a river bluff with middle pair on a king high board. Villain said I win, flips his hand to show his “missed straight” but it ended up being top pair. He legit thought he had QJ and not KJ 🤦🏻♂️. Hard to read someone when they don’t even remember what they have 🤔. No real interesting spots and I didn’t log a long session as the game broke around midnight and I needed to be ready for work in the morning anyways.
For Week 4 despite starting in the hole, we were able to slowly crawl our way back and eventually crush it! More importantly we were able to complete the goal I set on Thanksgiving! Unfortunately RedCross took off the online option for supporting #CAWildfire specifically, so I opted to send support through #UnitedWay by donating $385 this week. That gets us to over $1k at $1023 total for the challenge! I’m not likely to play much for the rest of the year as I will be pretty busy for the next 2 weeks with the holidays, oncall, and seeing friends and fam. I also need to start planning out what I want to do in 2019, in and outside of poker. Most likely I have one more game left, so this’ll be near the end of poker for me in ‘18. Until then ✌️♥️♠️♦️♣️ #pokercharity#charity#HillFire#WoosleyFire#poker#happyholidays
The day after my birthday 11.11.11 also the day after I found out my home burned down in the #woosleyfire ... I found myself in a palm tree, considering how a new life would be living in a tree somewhere in the Peruvian jungle. It was a lovely thought. And then reality hit me again - LA is calling my name 💛✨
#ChristmasEve#Tradition#fundraiser Only 20 tix left apparently AND
It's ACTION TIME. The Laemmle Team asked me to do this. I said only if we can make it a fundraiser for OUR TRADITION, our camps that sadly burnt in the fires. They were awesome and said yes, and SO IT IS! I have fun things planned and a few surprises. They said there’d only 20 seats left. Let’s raise money on Christmas Eve to rebuild OUR TRADITION! #CHK#GHC#campstrong 🕎☮️💟

From tragedy to a brave new (beautiful!) beginning ❤️ Today we cleared paths, built fencing and sifted thru burned remains of two ranches owned for three generations - that’s 40+ years! It was exhausting dirty work but so much fun!...If anyone wants to volunteer (and get a great workout in!) follow👉🏼 @helpcalifornia There are 15+ families who need immediate help sorting thru what’s left of their homes, rebuilding barns, sheds etc. so theres lots to do thru the new year! .
So thankful to have met such an amazing group of new friends today. This town feels like home sweet home ♥️ #malibustrong#helpcalifornia#woosleyfire#lacounty#happyholidays
Losing my brushes is probably the most difficult one for me to process. They held years of my work. Years of time and focus. Like magic wands. #woosleyfire#malibufire#malibu

And the desk survived. It was surreal going back today. It really did happen. Walked away with the closure I needed. New beginning! 💙 #malibufire#woosleyfire

My Calabasas home is still evacuated because of the #woosleyfire, which has now destroyed over 90k acres. I’m safe on @willow_tree_ranch but not all animals were as lucky. Here are a couple things you can do to help. Clickable link is in my bio *The Humane Society of Ventura County is accepting animals evacuating from the Hill and Woolsey fires, and they’re also looking for support. You can donate to the organization or purchase needed items through their Amazon Wish List. Locals can also apply to volunteer to help evacuate animals in the future.
*Give money to the Los Angeles County Animal Care Foundation, which will support various shelters’ relief efforts.

Put out a few hot spots in Malibu this week. These are a few shots from my buddy @milogibson house. Sadly, it was completely destroyed in the Malibu fire. But on the bright side, everyone involved with fighting these fires did an amazing job banding together. The community really showed their true colors during this disaster and I’m proud to have been a apart of such a badass crew. #malibufire#woosleyfire

A kitten rescued during the Woolsey fire is treated for burns on his ears. The Woolsey fire was just one fire that ravaged California last week, burning over 98,000 acres.
It was fantastic to see so much emphasis on saving animals. If you’re in California now is a good time to adopt almost any kind of animal. Of course priority goes to reuniting them with owners but many will not be. Also adopting an animal today makes room for those just rescued.
Visit @spcala for more information on how to help. Or @greatergoodorg is taking donations to directly help rescued animals.
Here’s a little bit of the chaos that my family and I experienced within the last week. A huge thank you to all the first responders, friends and neighbors that came together to help save each other’s homes. God was definitely watching over all of us 🙏🏻 Beyond blessed and fortunate to be able to return to our homes this weekend safe and unharmed. Definitely something I’d never want to experience again. Yes, that video is a clip of my parents neighbor and myself doing what we could to keep the flames from coming into their backyard 😧 #woosleyfire#mountainviewestates

We have amazing friends! A big thank you to @zumbawithpaolad and Carlos for helping us feed our animals. We had to wheelbarrow two bales of hay down a mountain and then push it a 1/4 of a mile, get the bales over three burned bridges and then wheel everything back up the mountain to feed our animals. We have a hand pump to our well, since the electricity is out, and every bucket had to be carried over steep walls to the animals. We couldn’t have done it without our friends. They also gave us a home when we fled from the fires.
Thank you Carlos and Paola. We couldn’t do it without your continued support. 💞
