Weekend road trip // Want to break free from Netflix and get a blast of fresh air? If you’re near Brighton (England), a crisp winter walk along the salt marshes to Cuckmere Haven beach is only a mile or so from the carpark – so perfect if you’re with mates who’re keen on driving to a village pub ASAP for lunch by a roaring fire. We were met with ambling dog walkers, retired folk, a gaggle of French students peering over a precarious cliff edge, and a Japanese couple taking selfies in front of the iconic view of the Coastguard Cottages and Seven Sisters cliffs beyond. It’s been a backdrop for loads of TV dramas and films, including the new series of Luther, Atonement, Fantastic Beasts: the Crimes of Grindelwald, and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I’m pretty sure, too, one of the cottages was Warren Ellis’ off-the-grid ‘home’ in 20,000 Days on Earth, the beautiful film depicting a fictional 24 hours in musician Nick Cave’s life. ⚡️⚡️Location: Cuckmere Haven near Seaford, East Sussex, England
All of the little things you do add up. So on my weekend rest day (usually Sunday) I try and get up and out early for a 8-10 mile walk 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
Not only does it mean I always hit my 10k steps (usually it's between 20-25k) it helps with active recovery (stops the glutes and quads from seizing up!) 😍💚💪
It's also a great mental break for me. Being outdoors walking makes me genuinely happy and relaxed (even in the wind and rain). *
What do you like to do on rest days?
Happiness comes from within ✨
For some time I have struggled with various gut issues; bloating, flares, nasty bugs etc which has taken a lengthy toll on my overall heath 🥴
Making small but beneficial changes is my aim to strengthen my gut for good which will allow me to be a stronger person both physically & mentally.. #2019
