"A Light You Can Never Climb To" by Acrobatic Collision
So for some reason I just can't give up on this project, which is essentially just a side project of another band that's been used to assist the members with 'writers block'. Like I haven't found any of these projects all that enjoyable but the layers of emotion that are prescient throughout always keep me coming back. In a weird way when I listen to these projects I feel the same level of enjoyment I'd have in reading a friend of mines artistic work, I can still criticise it but there's a reticent joy in the experience of feeling like you understand someone a bit better. With this project I feel like Acrobatic Collision have capitalised on this intimacy with this collection of ambient tracks, which aren't really game-changing by themselves but still suit for enjoyable listening. The first two tracks are cute enough but at the same time kinda bland. I like the downward motions of "The Collapsing Hadron Collider" and "Can You See Me Outside" is pleasantly clunky enough turntablism. The real surprises come with the next two tracks however. "In an Alternate Life I Was A Real Person Dancing As My World Fell Away" has these really fun keys which just bounce around really nicely. Then there's the unnerving monolith "Right Brain + Left Brain" a track which takes its 23 minutes very liberally and oozes you into an eerily sedative/calming trance, like listening to a loved one snore before being interrupted at the end with a nice little sweet piano surprise. I think this track is beautiful. So all in all, a modest ambient work that's pretty top-tier relaxing and REFLECTIVE.
