Cirque Du Soleil presents LUZIA! Luzia takes you to an imaginary Mexico, like in a waking dream, where light (“luz” in Spanish) quenches the spirit and rain (“lluvia”) soothes the soul. With a surrealistic series of grand visual surprises and breathtaking acrobatic performances, LUZIA cleverly brings to the stage multiple places, faces and sounds of Mexico taken from both tradition and modernity. What's your favorite record in your collection?
Was super excited to listen to this album as soon as I found it. The first track on this album is ‘Diamond Day’, and it must’ve been on a T-mobile advert about 10 years ago, but it was one of those that stuck with me, and I was so surprised to find it again.
The entire album, a cult English folk classic, is so dream-like. Gentle, peaceful string and wind instruments accompany Vashti Bunyan’s unique vocals through an expedition into tranquility.
There’s a real pastoral feel that runs through the album, as you can probably tell from the cover. It’s such an interesting album, particularly combined with the fact that Bunyan was so disappointed with the commercial reaction to it she abandoned music for 30 years. The cult following of the album encouraged her to take up music again. I can see why it didn’t succeed commercially, but this album is so unique it’s more than worth listening to. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

THE ROLLING STONES
Their Satanic Majesties Request
(Decca TXL 103) Original 1967 UK 🇬🇧 Mono
Their Satanic Majesties Request is the sixth album by The Rolling Stones. Released in December 1967.
Review from Galactic Ramble
This rather misunderstood album is quite complicated in many ways. Yeah, the Stones themselves pretty much hate it, and their staunch fans do too. The record has aged surprisingly well (and, in fact, now has quite a good reputation), and I’m a big fan of it, even while admitting that ‘Gomper’ and the long version of ‘Sing This All Together’ can be rather trying. A lot of bands at the time introduced psychedelic touches into their music, but the Stones did something few other major bands did: they went too far, rather than not far enough. That creates a record that is bound to polarise, but whose best moments rank with some of the best of the genre. Their songwriting is as sharp as ever: a song like ‘2000 Man’ could easily have worked, no matter what the production style, and with songs like ‘She’s A Rainbow’, ‘On With The Show’ And ‘Citadel’ (the hardest rocking song they ever recorded) this album has more catchy hooks than any other Stones album. ‘She’s A Rainbow’ is the best pop song they ever wrote (way better than ‘Ruby Tuesday’!), with that killer piano riff, the lovely backing vocals and a lyrical concept stolen from Arthur Lee. ‘2000 Light Years From Home’ is the great early space rock song, several years before the genre actually took any form.

After I posted Revolver the other day, lots of people mentioned Rubber Soul as the start of the Beatles next level. Many fans divide the Beatles' career into pre and post Rubber Soul. And what an album it is. They had decided to introduce humour - Drive My Car, Norwegian Wood. But we also find Lennon at his most poignant with Nowhere Man and, for me, his most beautiful composition - In My Life.
Listen and enjoy...
