Ok I’ve officially found my favorite Khao Soi...and it’s in Pai, Thailand at the night market! Perfect balance of sweet and spicy and I love the thin crispy noodles they used which makes it easier to eat rather than the big flat ones. I want to take this cart back to Chiang Mai...or Portland...😅.

Have you visited some lake or a beach or a hill a few times but never cared to know if it has a name?⠀
Pictured here is one such place. During my stay in Chiang Mai, I spent more than a couple of afternoons at this lake. One morning the owner at the hostel asked us, "Do you wanna go to a lake for a swim?" It was the month of March and we immediately jumped at the idea. It looked like a place that must've been popular with locals (on the weekends) but being a weekday there were hardly any people there and us guests from the hostel were the only non-Thais there. A few weeks later when I was back at the same hostel this scene was repeated. And it was repeated again a few weeks later. Funnily enough, none of fellow hostelers seemed to know its name. It was referred to as 'the lake'. The owner drove us to it and picked us up at the end of the afternoon. I don't remember if I ever asked him the name or if he did tell me and I didn't care to remember. Anyhoo, what's that something about, 'A rose by any other name' and all that?⠀
PS: That's what happens when you spend time and get friendly with locals. ⠀
We are on dry season now at #northernthailand but we are blessed and lucky to receive some rain occasionally. Our plants and soil will not be so thirsty, hope everyone can survive through this dry season and we are always granted with spring water! #thanksgod

Hello loves and welcome to the 313th day of 365 days of gratitude. Today was filled with weeds, wood and cutting up banana trees. I’m sitting in the dark under a solar light and thinking about going to sleep at 8pm. There isn’t much to do after work and beyond writing you this post. I am considering other options for workaway and will see how it unfolds. Meantime, I’ve learned how to use a machete, I’ve slept in an open hut on a moldy mattress and pillow while listening to all the creatures sing...and some gunshots from hunters as well. It doesn’t take much to become a jungle girl, just drop me in and I figure it out I guess.
I woke in the middle of the night, I cried feeling so many emotions emerge from my heart. Today I found myself singing a line from a song I love:
“this is not the end of me, this is the beginning.” You know what? No matter what it may feel like when it doesn’t feel good, I’m having epic experiences. I am also realizing how courageous I am by not just talking about facing my fears, by living through them. I am not just talking, I am doing and doing and doing.
I love you. Me.
One of the best parts about having family visit is getting to introduce them to your favorite off the beaten path places in your adopted homeland. A pristine lagoon near the cave temple. Doi Luang Chiang Dao is my magic mountain and this area is my go-to nature escape.

Buddha at sunrise in Mae Sarirang, Mae Hong Son, Thailand. Messing around with the 80mm Lensball that @lensball sent to me last week. First impressions: This is not a super straightforward piece of equipment to use, haha... you really need a lot of things to align to get a useable image. That being said, I really enjoyed the challenges it brought up in my shooting. I had to think of new creative ways to shoot and overcome unique problems such as depth of field, macro shooting and the fact that everything is upside down in the ball. It's also prone to fingerprints and rolling. Overall though I enjoyed shooting with it and would recommend this to anyone who needs a creative spark added to their photography arsenal. DO I HAVE A WEIRD THUMB? #selfconcious

We thought this was a giant Buddha in the middle of nowhere in Thailand - but it’s actually a statue of Guan Yin - the goddess of Mercy. A great protector and benefactor, her heart is full of deep compassion and unconditional love - she’s also known as the female Bodhisattva. ❤️
