I loved hosting events and being a Master of ceremonies in Nigeria. It was a side hustle I did regularly when given the opportunity. I was the go to person at work, for family and friends, I was not even a professional, it was just a hobby I enjoyed...I even got a few referrals that paid quite well. All these earnings were eventually used for my relocation abroad. Since my family and I arrived, I have been fortunate to get a job, the hours are not so friendly but I can't complain, at least I'm earning more than I ever made from my job in Nigeria. But I know I can do more, I miss my days holding the microphone and making people laugh, but I don't think I stand a chance here, so many people still struggle to understand my accent despite being able to speak very good English.
