The picture right before this picture, I was at my skinniest at 132 pounds. Though, I was determined and “healthy” to the outside, I was really struggling insides. This is right before my dad committed suicide and I so badly wanted depended on other people’s opinions of me, including my dad. I was obsessed with food, to the point, where sometimes I just wouldn’t eat, so I could look or feel confident because I was skinny. In this photo here ☝🏻I was 165 pounds. I was STRONG. My health was on FIRE. I began my health journey. My dad had passed away and I no longer needed to impress him or anyone else. The first 6 months after he passed away was unfamiliar to me. I didn’t know how to live now that was life was so drastically different and had to really re-examine who I was and what I wanted. With that said, I either had to be a victor or a victim to my circumstances. I decided to start practicing self-love and self-care. To be honest, I didn’t want to end up like him, so I propelled myself forward. I knew being unhealthy mentally, emotionally and physically would lead me to where he is today; not here. I am beyond grateful for the people I was met, the god that is in my life and the opportunities for me to grow! P.S. I haven’t weighed myself in a little under a a year, because I know who I am and what I want, so weight and a standard doesn’t even phase me. God’s got me.
