EVENING ROUTINE ☕️🕊
For someone who lets few things get in the way of her morning routine, it’s surprising that my evenings tend to have such little structure. I’m rarely consistent in the time I arrive home; in when I choose to make dinner or even shut off from work / blogging / social media. 🤦🏽♀️ The only thing I’ve been good at in the evenings thus far, is 1) turning on my vaporiser because that shit works wonders for my sleep 💆🏼♀️ and 2) watching my favourite show while I eat. At the moment, I’m watching “YOU” like the rest of the world 😌 — and I’ll be honest, I can’t quite pinpoint what I think about it. All I know is that it pulls me enough to watch the next episode.. and so I do.
Because I’m young, dumb and there is always progress to be made, what you see here isn’t necessarily my nightly routine. But it IS something I’d like to get into. 🙌🏻 So far, I’ve been successful at using these coconut oil wipes by @_cocobetty__ to remove my make-up and re-hydrate my face when I get home. In this muggy weather, it’s been especially appealing to wipe off the day with a set of vegan, cruelty-free wipes. 🌱 They’re also said to protect skin cells against environmental damage, so we’re winning there. ✔️✔️ Whilst I’m nailing my skin as a priority — probably because I know how much it flares up when it’s humid — it’s the next part that’s stumping me harder. 🙇🏼♀️ The good ol’ book and bed habit. We all know it’s a great way to wind down, but god almighty, trying to convince yourself of that at 9pm ain’t as easy as it sounds. Let’s remember, I’m stubborn as hell.
In a dream world, I’d turn off Netflix; I’d light a candle, and I’d grab one of the latest sent to me by @penguinrandomhouse. 📚 @michelleobama’s Becoming is one I’ve made a start on and indeed, have sworn to keep going with based on the countless rave reviews. 👏🏻 My problem is I haven’t escaped enough to the world of Mrs Obama yet to know myself. Perhaps it’s the thought of learning a thing or two before bed.. 🤷🏽♀️ It’s just all. Too. Much. So I watch Netflix, clutter my mind and sleep terribly instead. 🤣🤦🏽♀️ To the evening gurus out there.. TEACH ME YOUR WAYS! 👇🏻👇🏻
