I’ve got to get something off my chest...Things don’t always work out they way you imagine them. However, this does not mean that you have become a failure. This is something I’ve had to accept over the past month.
This November, I was accepted into a program in London to study abroad and was very excited to attend. Sadly, I will not be going to London and I will be taking a leave of absence from Parsons in the new year due to financial difficulties. I need to work full time for one year to continue funding my education and this important (and, albeit, very large) investment in my future.
I feel lucky to have completed five incredibly successful semesters in the program of my dreams. For that I am so grateful. I’m lucky to have such steadfast family and friends, my health, my ambitions, and the priceless skills I have already acquired thus far, which will help propel me over this next year.
I really hope that in the future, schools can do more to support the finance-related drawbacks that dedicated students like myself contend with, ensuring that they do not ever need to divert time away from their studies in order to continue them.
I am hopeful that this year will lead me to the reward of returning back to school, back to the place I want to be. It will be a year of continuing self-discovery, photographic projects/collaborations and hard work, things I welcome with the greatest enthusiasm.
Nothing great or worthwhile is achieved without struggle or sacrifice. Sometimes you have to pay the price, even if it’s difficult, to realize your goals. 💛
#tbt. Not many realize Hampton Bays had a lighthouse — Great West Bay Lighthouse
See below for the History provided by the Hampton Bays Historical Society. .
70 years ago, on December 23rd. 1948 our beloved lighthouse was destroyed. Originally known as the Great West Bay Light, it was commissioned in 1853. The loss of this great 168’ tower is still felt by hamlet residents.
The Great West Bay Lighthouse, locally known as the Ponquogue Lighthouse, was first lit on January 1st, 1858. $35,000 was appropriated for construction of a red brick lighthouse on Ponquogue Point in what was the hamlet of Ponquogue, southeast of Good Ground, facing what is now Shinnecock Bay. This location is along the northern edge of the current Shinnecock Coast Guard Station property. It housed a 1st order Fresnel Lense, itself almost 12 feet tall. Were this beacon still standing, it would be one of the ten tallest lighthouses in the USA.
Sadly, in 1931, the lighthouse was decommissioned in favor of a skeleton tower and demolished by the Coast Guard in 1948.

Tonights sick sunset from an all time favorite spot. I always seem to have trouble getting a good vertical shot with everything in frame, so figured for this shot I’d just focus on the lighthouse itself. What a damn burner🌅🔥👌🏻
