This is something I didn't share much about as it was happening.
Partly because of embarrassment. But mostly because I was convinced there was nothing anyone could do about it.
What felt like "completely out of the blue"(but now I know better than to think that), my hair started falling out. It was maybe 3-4 years ago now.
And I'm not just talking a few hairs here and there whenever I brushed it or showered.
It was falling out in chunks, and it was scary.
Around the same time, my face started to break out with acne.
I was always pretty blessed with clear skin during my high school days, but at this point I was an adult. Why now?
I booked appointments with doctors, they booked me with specialists, and every time, they would come back with the same results: "Your test results are normal"
"Maybe your body is going through some hormonal changes. It's fine". "You know, changes like this are normal as we get older". I never truly believed it though. I didn't believe it was "normal". Because it didn't feel normal for me.
So I kept digging and researching on my own. Finally I discovered the world of natural health, or what they call "alternative medicine" (meanwhile, this stuff was the original medicine...just say'n). By adding certain foods, nutrients, minerals and good gut bacteria, I eventually started to heal. From the inside. My hair stopped falling out, and my skin started to clear up.
I'm realizing now, years later, as I've pursued a career as a natural health practitioner and woking with clients, that this is one of the most common issues with women of any age.
But just because something is common, it doesn't mean it's normal.
And just because your doctor or health care practitioner tells you there's nothing they can do, it doesn't mean there are no alternatives.
Ultimately, these symptoms are just our bodies communicating something to us. And with time, we need to figure out what that is.
If you're experiencing these types of symptoms, I've been there. I get it. And there is hope.❤️ #holisticnutrition
