MA'AT (pronounced may-et)
is the ancient Egyptian goddess of truth, justice, harmony, and balance (a concept known as ma'at in Egyptian) who first appears during the period known as the Old Kingdom (c. 2613 - 2181 BCE) but no doubt existed in some form earlier. She is depicted in anthropomorphic form as a winged woman, often in profile with an ostrich feather on her head, or simply as a white ostrich feather. The feather of Ma'at was an integral part of the Weighing of the Heart of the Soul ceremony in the afterlife where the heart of the soul of the dead person was weighed in the scales of justice against the feather.
Here’s a perfect example of feeling self cautious and how those “overshadowing voices.” Can get the best of us.
I took some cute pictures today and when I came across this particular picture witch isn’t such a flattering angle the inner voices in my head fed into my own insecurities and got the best of me.
At first I was all about it!
My wavy mermaid hair was on point.
I loved how golden my brown skin glistened and I loved my side profile... but then I looked at my body and felt...like maybe...this picture wasn’t “esthetically” pleasing.
I’m not your hourglass bombshell.
I have curves. Yes. But they’ll never be the kind of curves that are being glorified in the media.
That’s when I took a deep breath, closed my eyes and cleared my mind. After I collected my thoughts I looked in the mirror and talked to my self. I looked at my belly and my curves and said internally. You’re body is beautiful. We’re all made differently. Stop listening to those insecurities because baby you’re WORTHY!
Our bodies are our temples.
We come in all shapes and sizes.
We can change them we can modify them but we need to internally love him.
We need to love ourselves in the skin that we currently have. No one can take our Beauty nor our Self confidence. Only we can do let’s rise above those evil voices in our heads because we are goddess’s!
I hope this gave anyone who has ever felt ashamed of their bodies and even if it’s for a moment helps you remember what a bad ass babe you are.💕
