TO BE KILLED - 1/16/2019
Shy, timid, & slightly overwhelmed at the big, scary shelter, REX is just a baby puppy, barely 10 months old & probably younger, who was found as a STRAY & dumped at the Manhattan Center. He’s so innocent, vulnerable, his little tail tucked, his eyes confused and the size of saucer plates. He wants so much to get comforted, approaching readily & staying close to staff and volunteers, but still a shy little wallflower. What this sweet, comfort seeking boy needs is OUT of the shelter & into an experienced #foster or #adoptive home where he will be given the time to decompress.
A volunteer writes:
Rex is much more than just a pretty face, he's a superstar in training! A bouncy playmate, a soft snuggler & an all-round fun dude, this silly #puppy has already made 'groupies' of every volunteer lucky enough to spend time with him.
Rex hesitates over the noise & bustle of the city but he's a good #leash walker, brave enough to head to the park & back, & even amenable to wearing a coat while he strolls. A wonderful #doggie playgroup buddy & very social once he's comfortable with new people. When he's not getting zoomy you'll find him cuddling into laps, peering over shoulders or dropping into a PLAY BOW then springing back up for a hug. Rex enjoys chewing treats & chasing toys &he's always happy to share anything he has with his friends. A sweet puppy who'll steal your heart at hello. This beautiful boy needs patience & plenty of positive, gentle guidance to grow into the amazing adult he destined to be.
#52093. I am a male #blackdog#Manhattan ACC . The shelter thinks I am about 10 months old.

AT RISK for medical reasons. CIRDC #contagious to other animals & require in home care. Behaviorally, Rex exhibits a medium-high level of energy and has been fearful in the ACC Rex would be best suited for an #adopter that is able to manage his fearful behaviors while also providing Rex with physical & mental stimulation regularly.

When she was small, she dreamed of being a princess, but that was the extent of it – it was just a dream. This sweet girl certainly deserves a loving family who will be persistent in taking her to the #veterinary dermatologist till her skin issue is correctly diagnosed and resolved. Special foods, medications, & medicated baths will work miracles & she can know how life can be without itchiness, oozing sores, & pain. She also deserves a soft bed, a kind voice, a tender touch & all the toys & love her heart can hold. Will you give this little beauty a soft place to land?
A volunteer writes: "Shy? Me? Scratch that! I am a socialite with people & dogs alike! I love to romp through open pens in playgroups with my peers & I am a fan of whoever wants to spend time with me & give me treats! I love kids too, I used to live & play with one! I enjoy a good walk, stretch my legs, tease the birds & of course, a good girl always does her business outside. I was a regular at #dogparks and I #dream to be able to do this again. Sit on a bench & I will join you ASAP for kisses & hugs. May I come home with you? I promise to be la creme de la creme, the best forever best friend.

Additionally, Princess has dermatitis which will require follow up vet & long term care. Behaviorally, Princess is open to interaction but has been a bit timid at the ACC & would do best with an adopter without young children & that takes a slow approach when introducing Princess to new environments.
This ground level image from @the.artisan.hound is a great canine portrait: “Is there anything more enjoyable than watching an overly enthusiastic pug hurtle towards you at full pelt in a flurry frenzy? This shot perfectly summed up Rupert's personality and contagious energy during our photo session together - I can't help but crack a smile every time I see it.” Josie used a @nikoneurope D750 Nikkor 70-200mm f2.8 @ 1/800, f/2.8, ISO 1000 to make this image. 🐶
