A few years ago, I learned I had a #meningioma which is a benign brain #tumor which can grow and have to be removed if it does. More info at bottom of this post. It was devasting to learn and a fearful time for me. I went back to my neurologist back in late November due to my ongoing migraines and severity of them, and he saw the need to have another MRI on my brain. It was scheduled on December 27, and I was in some ways just going through the motions during the holiday season. I did my best to make sure I was present with #family and friends at different events by not looking at my phone and working my #business. I still thought of it at night.
Staying busy and working my business which tripled from #November to December was an amazing thing to see in spite of having at least 8 migraines in #December. Some days, I was in bed trying to recover and the other days I was working traveling to appointments and then a few holiday events to attend.
On December 27, I had the MRI, and I don’t like them at all. The space is narrow and over half of your body is covered which makes me think what a casket might feel like. By the way, I've had at least 9 MRI's. I stay calm during them and try to #focus on other things and hard to with all the noise even wearing earplugs.
I finally learned what the results were the other day. My #neurologist took me into his office and he showed me the scans which revealed it hasn’t grown at all! He advised he didn’t see any reason to have another for a few years He then put me on a new medication once a month to help ease the occurrence of #migraines, and I also have been seeing a #fantastic#chiropractor to help with the structural part of the problem that may cause them.
I’m relieved and thankful for the wonderful news. Like the picture says below: I am grateful for #small things, #big things, and #everything in between. Even the days where I’m suffering with a migraine, I can still say I’m blessed to be alive.
Thank you to all who have prayed for me and been supportive of me during this.
Buffalo Cauliflower Wings! Which would you choose? Cauliflower wings make a great healthier alternative to the traditional chicken wing. Did you know that one fried chicken wing with the skin on can be close to 150 calories and 10g fat per piece?! Cauliflower wings give you the same flavor and a similar crunchy texture, just with less calories and fat! They make a great appetizer for football games as well as holiday parties, too!
1 medium head cauliflower, cut into pieces
1/2 cup flour of choice (I used brown rice flour)
1/3 cup milk of choice- may add more if batter too thick
1/4 tsp paprika
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp cumin
Sea salt and pepper
1/3 cup hot sauce
1 tsp olive oil
Directions: Preheat oven to 450°F. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, milk, and spices until thick batter forms. In a separate bowl, mix hot sauce and olive oil, setting aside for later. Place cauliflower into batter and coat. Remove excess batter and place on a greased baking sheet. Place in the oven for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and toss in hot sauce to coat. Place back on baking sheet and cook for another 15-20 minutes until golden. Remove and enjoy!
Serving tip: use @siggisdairy plain and mix in a few bleu cheese crumbles in place of ranch or traditional bleu cheese dressing!
