If you EVER go to a tourist spot that involves interacting with elephants, do your research! There are hundreds of attractions where the animals are drugged, abused, chained up, and starved, to essentially break their spirit and make them basically a shell to entertain. There are also many sanctuaries that specifically exist to save the animals from those attractions and give them a free, fulfilled, loving life; the closest life they can have to being in the wild (where they would no longer be able to survive on their own). A good life isn’t something you just show up for- it’s how you choose to live and create your life every day.
Last winter @charles_post and I spent a week in Whistler. We skied and went to the spa too many times, are sushi every day, and pretty much lived the good life. It was one of those trips where life felt perfect, and everything felt a bit more possible. We are huge advocates of working really hard, but also of investing in ourselves and our happiness through travel.
I was inspired to paint this Black Tusk piece from our trip, and it brings me back to one of the happiest weeks of our lives in recent memory!
Link to this original is in my bio!
It’s a 4x4” acrylic painting on canvas and cones framed.
