#10yearchallenge and how my life changed since then ⬇️⬇️⬇️
At the time I was 11, my life changed dramatically. I was a little chubby guy who liked to eat a lot, played a lots of video games and so on... Then I got diagnosed with DIABETES and my life changed. Dropped like 10 to 12 kg in 2 weeks. When I got to the hospital I was losing awareness and dehydrated. First two years weren't easy for me and my family because I wasn't taking insulin when I supposed to and some other stupid things that I did.
But now, I'm happy and grateful for that time because it motivates me to live a better life. In that 10 year window I learned a lot about nutrition, training, and most important, about me. I have met some beautiful people along the road that I have trained and train with at the moment. Now, I live with diabetes for almost 13 years and I have competed in powerlifting couple of times, I fell in love with bodybuilding and strength training and want so much more to accomplish. I am proud but never satisfied.

Training resembles life. There will be ups & downs, good days & not so good days but if you keep showing up, and keep pushing, you develop skills that make you better at it. Even when you think you don’t have anything left in you to fight, you push a little harder and you keep showing up & you #dothework 💪🏽🙌🏽👊🏽

DM #966: Master. The. Basics.
Wanna know why it seems to take dudes less time to get their first muscle-up than women? Relative bodyweight strength. Plain and simple.
Maybe I’m tired of seeing people flailing about on the rings, trying 6295748 different turnover drills, all while praying that the 7 bands they’re using don’t snap them in their junk 🤦🏽♂️. Or maybe this is a metaphor for most things in life 🤔?
Master. The. Basics. Check off all the boxes for foundational requirements. Own all the entry-level stuff. THEN worry about the high-level minutiae. Stop worrying about what the purest protein shake is is when you eat McDonald’s now and haven’t had a glass of water in years. Stop researching the “best” running shoe when you can’t even balance on one foot.
Master the basics before you invest in the advanced stuff. It’ll make EVERYTHING easier down the road.
Daily Maestroisms dropping whenever the craziness of life allows 🤷🏽♂️. Get yours.
Like it? Repost it. Don't understand it? Hit me up and get #Maestrofied.
PS - Want to do a muscle-up? Go get stronger. For real.
Want more real talk like this? Check out my course, ~ Moving with the Maestro: From Assessment to Independence ~ A new way of thinking 🤓. A new way of treating. It’s time that continuing education got a makeover. Coming to a city near you 😈. Link to register, as always, is in the bio 👆🏾.
According to the NHS, obesity affects approximately one in four adults, and one in five children aged 10 to 11. It can lead to many serious health conditions that are potentially life-threatening, including: - Type 2 diabetes
- Coronary heart disease
- Bowel, pancreatic, kidney, liver and stomach cancer.
As well as the serious health conditions mentioned above, obesity can also affect a person’s quality of life and their relationships with family and friends. This can lead to psychological issues such as depression, anxiety and low self-esteem.
Obesity can also lead towards a number of day-to-day problems, such as breathlessness, increased sweating, difficulty doing physical activity and joint or back pain.
According to the latest NHS figures, depending on how severe a person’s obesity is, it can reduce life expectancy by an average of 3 to 10 years and an estimated 1 in every 13 deaths in Europe are attributed to obesity.
Try these simple everyday tips to help you on your healthy weight journey!
▪️Exercise at work
Take the stairs, go for a short walk at lunchtime, keep your water bottle topped up!
▪️Drink lots of water
Aim for 6-8 glasses per day. You could be mistaking your thirst for hunger.
▪️Avoid fizzy drinks
Full of added sugar and/or artificial nasties. Try fruit infused water or herbal teas if tap water isn't for you. And save plastic wastage by using a reusable bottle!
▪️Team up with a healthy colleague
It's always easier to stick to good intentions when you have the support and motivation from a friend. ▪️Be mindful of emotional eating
We aren't saying go cold turkey on your favourite treat. Enjoy a small treat in moderation but if you find yourself delving into the cupboards for comfort each day address the stressors and your waistline will thank you.
A TOUCH OF HEALTH; A WAY OF LIFE
The journey is never going to be easy or will there ever be any shortcuts to the path of greatness, the pain, the sacrifice and sweat will be your stepping stone of success. One day you will look back and tell yourself that you did it!! “Look back at where you come from and let yourself be proud about your progress” ...
Be Fit, Be Proud and Keep Grinding
We may not have the same goals. Hell, we may not even be running the same race. But, if we end up sharing the same route, you can bet your ass we got your back.
Putting in the work today in a different form. Drawing up plans and putting our team together to make sure we deliver what we have promised. Never lose sight of what really matters.
Standing here so grateful for everything. Especially all the simple things we sometimes take for granted. We are blessed beyond measure and unless we can comprehend that, we will never become the person we truly are capable of being. No matter where you’re at in your life KNOW that you have all the capacity to grow into that person. Your blessings are waiting...You just have want to build towards growing into them. Let’s #build together
