Egg tempera artists MAKE their paint each time they have a painting session. Mixing egg yolk with pigment and water, artist Paige Rizvi created this egg tempera painting in Doug Safranek's class (🔗 in bio).⠀
It's surprising to see how the artists in this class create a variety of works ranging from traditional portraiture, abstract expressionism, and illustrative pieces like this.⠀
The show ends Saturday in our main gallery, come in, find your favorite, and share with us here on Insta! ⠀
In the INSIGHT Art Talk tonight Jan 24th Artist Tara Moorman will discuss the watercolors in her exhibit, Letters to My Ancestors from 7 pm to 8 at the Lawrence Arts Center.
Cedar Rapids-based artist Tara Moorman has long been known for her exquisite watercolor paintings. This exhibition displays a series, inspired by old photographs of Moorman’s relatives found at her mother’s home. While these paintings are of Moorman’s family, she believes some universal experiences — love, loss, and the keeping of secrets — are present in the work. #lawrenceartscenter#artisttalks#insightart#painting#artgallery#artshow#artinfo#newartwork

"When you buy something from an ARTIST your buying more than an object. Your buying Hundreds of Hours of Errors and Experimentation. Your buying Years of Frustration and Moments of Pure Joy. Your not just buying one thing, your buying a piece of HEART, a Piece of SOUL..... a small piece of Someone Else's LIFE" ~unknown 🙏
